Important Checklist before going to a Lanparty

Checking your Computer
Before you go make sure your PC is in perfect working order. Plus have the games that are being played Installed BEFORE you go. This is important if you don't you can run into problems and end up playing nothing at all.

Get the LASTEST Patch for the games being played. It helps to have any extra map add-ons / Modifications that are popular with that game. Some may require expansion packs so be sure to have it installed, and patched.

Have the game Pre-configure, and your keyboard setup and go try playing online.  This will help to make sure you're not missing anything important. Most Lanparties DO NOT HAVE internet. Some Lanparties do have Internet access but as you can see 50+ players updating their game will kill that connection. Some try to offer CD's burned with patches but you're just wasting game time. So be READY!

Disable File sharing, and disable your Internet connection sharing as these things cause problems to the Lanparty network. Make sure disable your DNS Servers or network services that you maybe running. Just have your computer setup as a workstation.

What to Bring?
Lanparties have restrictions such as if you have a 21inch Monitor and a 15inch flat panel Bring the flat panel or a smaller monitor. First it's more portable for you and less power hungry for the party. I've seen Lanparty blackouts before and it's not pretty, bringing your computer hungry system may have you asked to leave.

Avoid wireless Headphones/Keyboard/Mouse you may run into interference. If you don't have anything else then bring it.

Typically check list

At the Lanparty
*
Have a GOOD Attitude!!!!!. This is actually hard for some people when they are losing don't be a bad sport. Instead learn their tricks!

* Illegal Activity such as sharing programs / games / XXX and don't forget to Disable file sharing before you go people like surfing your computer and stealing stuff.  Don't be one of these people some Lanparties monitor the network activity they want the network to run fast for gaming. Caught using up bandwidth for file sharing may get you booted from the party.

* A Lanparty is not to show off Movies or your porno collection. Some people will take offence and you will get kicked.

* Don't bring weapons, the weapons to use are in the game!

* Tame your mouth if you like to $@!%$##@! You might want to do some electric shock therapy or some soap if it helps!

* Standing over a player can be annoying. Hey if you in a 1on1 match and your about to win would you want people standing over your head screaming?

* Wondering off, if the event is limited to a room and bathroom stay there, No one likes people going into stuff they don't belong.

* No alcohol, well some private parties do, but you should try to avoid them.

* No hackers, this is for gaming, not to find security holes. If you get caught they might smash your PC and see how you like, or at least call the cops on you.

* NO fighting, come on grow up! Police maybe called.

* Respect their rules!  If your under 18, check with the Lanparty as they might reject you. A good rule to go by is the Game Box ESRB Rating.

* Don't forget to have FUN!
